trouble coffee

This has been sitting in my library for a little while now. It was actually shot in the “summer.” I quote summer because for those who live in SF, we know that when the rest of the hemisphere enjoys sun, heat, and clear skies, we have cold, fog, and wind.

Portra 800 and Contax 645 dev/scanned at RPL.

summer in sf

Well, it’s summer in San Francisco. So while the rest of the world enjoys blue, sunny skies, we get to enjoy… Fog. Wind. And generally mild temperature.

Here’s to us SF’ers who make the most of it!!

Credit to Jen for the last photo… Such a great shot of me, it had to be included.

mollusk surf shop

I have to say, this is one rad surf shop. It seems most surfing-centric retail stores lately cater to the über trendy with big names and whatnot. Not Mollusk. These guys know what’s up and their shop is a reflection for their love of surfing. Sure, they have the names everyone is familiar wtth but they also have items that are off the beaten path that are, quite frankly, much nicer and more unique.

Guys, keep it up.

And to those who have not yet gone - go. Now. You can also go to Trouble Coffee and The General Store which are both one block away on Judah.

katie and dan

Katie and Dan got married recently and asked if I would be up for shooting it. I had to say yes, they let me shoot their special day on film! All of it.

Congrats, guys. An amazing day!!

woodside

I was invited down to Mr. Thomas Johnson’s house a few weeks back to shoot around his property. Each day Thomas will send out his “Garden Shot of the Day” email with an artful photo of anything from his garden. He’s quite the accomplished photographer so I didn’t hesitate to pack a couple rolls of Portra 160, 400, and TMax in 120 and 220 variants.

It was an early Sunday morning but a fantastic opportunity to focus on the details. Enjoy.

heart my contax

I LOVE my Contax 645.

austin healey 3000 mk2

For some reason, we got the bright idea to get up at 5am on a Sunday to shoot video of this Austin Healey 3000 Mk II. Luckily, it was a gorgeous morning in San Francisco. I packed the Leica, Canon Elan 7e, Contax, Ilford XP2, Portra 800, and Fuji 400H. Richard Photo Lab just doing wonders on these scans again. Brotogs, check us out on at facebook.com/brotogs, we’re always up to something…

glen of imaal terrier meetup

You all may be wondering just what the shirt says… “Glen of what?” Punch it in to google and check out the breed. I was able to attend this Glen Gathering in the Bay Area a few weeks back and it was definitely pretty cool. I had only “met” a Glen Terrier a few months prior and never seen one prior. All these guys and gals had some great character and the owners are some of the most passionate dog lovers out there!

Like all recent posts, these are all shot with film - Fuji 400H, Kodak Portra 160, 400, 120, and 35mm sizes. Boy, I LOVE seeing the results from the Contax!

a sneak at the healey

Yes, another preview. Got up real early on a Sunday with “the boys” to knock out a video shoot. Snapped some stills with the Contax.

a new friend

A short but sweet post. Our house, aka YorkStation, has seen a new visitor as of late. This kitty seems to  like us and our backyard. So much that we see him (or her) everday. It’s great company! Oh, and I cant forget… These are straight scans. Zero adjustments. None. Zip. Take THAT, digital!
